listen. analyse. implement.

The web has matured.
It is less discriminative, more widely available and more compelling, engaging and useful than it has ever been. The websites have improved not only on design asthetics and functional modules, they now take into account millions of users who are blind in partial or whole. Ignored by large in the days of when tables formed the backbone of a website, the accessibility and usability principles are on the road to redemption in modern times.

At floatleft, we stand for a better web. We have been developing schematic, web standards compliant websites since 2005 - when some of the most prominent portals in Australia (two for instance - Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Museum) made the prudent, proactive and in most cases expensive decision to make the switch to the latest design methodologies available, primarily because of advances in the browser technologies in leaps and bounds.

We made an early switch to the new technologies. What this translates for you is in the assurance that the websites we develop for you are more likely to stand the test of times as they are developed to comply to the standards laid down by World Wide Consortium for web design and development.

Development Approach - listen. analyse. implement.

Our first couple of meetings with you at the initiation of the project are based around gathering the requirements at a broad level and discussing timelines. During the course of the next few business days, we detail the initial briefs and a lot of work is done in crossing the 't's and dotting the 'i's to understand the requirements to the T and finalise and prioritise the deliverables. Once the requirement gathering is complete, we get on to working out the optimal solution for you and develop the wireframes, project plans and set up a staging platform where you can review the works as and when they are complete.

At floatleft, we use the best technologies available that can keep you abreast on the developments and allow you to review the works with ease and provide feedbacks. We make use of projectpath - an excellent online tool for us to collobrate with you during the development, testing and deployment of the project.

Development Team

A bit eccentric, the dev team is very inspired by the usability guidelines of Sir Jakob Neilson and our works tend to follow the recommendations. An assignment that does not validate on the W3C guidelines does not leave the labs without a massive dent in our egos, as we stand by our mission to work for a better web.

In some cases it results in extended work-hours, closer communication with the clients - a brush of prudence followed by another iteration, and all over again. A firm believer in providing constant updates to clients, we use basecamp project management system to keep us with the clients on the same page as we progress on the development works.
